Hi Vanessa,
I love this scarf. Is the pattern available in English, please?
Hi knityoga, I'm so sorry the ruffle scarf pattern only availabe in japanese. It is from the Let's Knit Series Autumn & Winter 2004-2005 ISBN4-529-04050-X. But the pattern chart is really easy to follow. If you need help with the translation feel free to give me a holler.
Thanks for the reference, Vanessa. I've googled for it in the hope that I could find somewhere selling the book but nothing came up. Do you know where I can buy it? If I can find where to buy it, then I can see if I can make sense of the chart and, if not, I might take up your kind offer to help with the translation! Thanks. :-)
Very pretty!
Hi Vanessa,
This is a lovely CW! And so different because of the pattern. And did you knit this superb cardi yourself?
From Vanessa's latest pics of her second version of the ruffle scarf, I think i've been able to figure out the pattern for it.
I've started to have a go this morning, and will post the instructions when I'm done.
Hi Ann,
I just had a look at Vanessa's photo of her second ruffle scarf and, as you say, it does look much clearer. To me, it looks like what I would normally do for a shell type edging (i.e. several trebles into one space) with long lengths of chain in between which are somehow curled to form the ruffling. Anyway, good for you and thanks for your attempt to reproduce it. I'm looking forward to the instructions as it is such a beautiful and different version of the CW! ;-)

Gorgeous! I love it. Lovely sweater, too.
hi knityoga,
Try search under this site for that pattern book. (http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/pid-1003858802/code-j/section-books/ )I'm not sure if they have it but they do carry most of the japanese craft books. As for the pattern, I really wanted to translate it and share with everyone. But I'm afraid if I do that I might violate the copyright law. However, I'll try my best to help if anyone have any question.
That is so pretty
Thanks for the link, Vanessa! I'll take a look. :-)
absolutely gorgeous!
Love the scarf but I can't find this book. Any easy way to get it? Do you have a link?
Thanks!
When I was in Seattle this last week I went to a big japanese super marketplace looking for this book. They only had this year's edition, but said said they could order last years for me. You can find them at this address: http://www.kinokuniya.com
